Until the rain set in this afternoon, we were able to make good headway on weeding the rose garden which, of course,
had not existed at this time last year, when it was little changed from this shot of 6th June 2014. On the left, in front of the shed, is the Waterboy, featured yesterday, as found.
This afternoon we delivered the last of the exhibition flyers, to
Forest Arts Centre in Old Milton,
to the St Barbe Museum and Arts Centre in Lymington,
and to Milford on Sea Community Centre.
From Milford, Jackie drove us down to the coast where,
despite the rain battering the windscreen,
there was a remarkably clear view of the Isle of Wight and The Needles with their lighthouse.
This evening Hordle Chinese Take Away provided our dinner. As always, the set meal for two will cater for tomorrow as well. Jackie drank Hoegaarden while I finished the madiran.
Looks warm there! Sounds like a great day.
Thanks, Lisa.
Quite a remarkable view!
Thanks, Leslie
I see you in the mirror! It’s the same the world over, the women doing all the work as the men look on (and take photographs) 🙂
Great silhouette – I was wondering when we would see another view of the Isle of Wight 🙂
Thanks, Mary. Someone has to be the archivist
I must admit that is a good excuse 🙂

I saw you in the mirror too, Derrick! The garden is looking great.
Thanks, Jill
I went back to see you in the mirror – I was too busy wondering about how Jackie’s back was feeling! I appreciate seeing a bit more of the water boys heritage too – it’s a lovely statue and Jackie has done a great job in restoring him to his full glory!
Many thanks, Pauline
Derrick said that that was how the figure on the fountain was found, but in fact, at that point, I had already pulled him out from under a pile of leaves up behind the shed, he weighs a lot as did his pond that he now sits in, I wo’manhandled it into a wheel barrow and took it down to the house, he was one of many little abandoned ‘treasures’ found tucked away under debris around the garden. Not my first choice for a water feature subject (a bit twee.) but free.
Yes, yes – I thought “a clear view” was referring to YOU in the mirror and that lovely hair of yours. Mary’s comment was funny; we women DO know how to get it done.
I have yet to have a moment in my garden this spring. When it is dry I am working. When I have a bit of time, it is raining.
Thanks, Jodie. And for the compliment
Interesting photographic reflection in the first picture.
🙂 Thanks, Ian
I thought the mirror reflection was your new modest way of inserting a selfie into the picture….
’twas, indeed it was. You are always on the ball, Cynthia. Thanks
Rustling up art patrons? I assume for your show coming up soon!
Yes. It’s on now. Thanks, Cynthia
It seems like a beautiful day out there. Hope you had a great time 🙂
We did, thanks, Euphie
What a full day that was!
Love the mirror shot!
Best of luck with the exhibition.
Thanks, Danella
Best of luck with the exhibition my friend! Be blessed!
Thank you, Sofia
Remarkable views of the Isle of Wight in such heavy weather!
It was uncanny, John. Looking to the right across Christchurch Bay the cloud was a solid brown mass
The garden is almost ready, the flyers were delivered… So… the exhibition can come, Derrick 🙂
Thanks, Monica
I think it will be a successful exhibition, Derrick 🙂
What a garden! And what gardeners! Good luck with the show.
Many thanks, Laurie
Love the way this post was set up! A story and words
Thanks, Lynn
very artistic and creative!
Great post with lovely photos
Thanks, Sol
You may have made a (visual) rod for your back, Derrick, with your selfies in successive posts. Like Hitchcock appearing fleetingly in his own films, or Terence [momentary blank here, I mean the steam-train painter] who secretes a mouse into each painting, you’re going to have every reader looking for your portrait instead of reading your hard-crafted text!!!
(Cuneo is the man’s surname).
Thanks, Paul. I didn’t know about the mice. A good theme though. How about Colin Dexter in the Morse TV series? (He was also a crossword setter)
