One Day In The Garden

Today the sun rose before 8 a.m., took an early lunch, and re-emerged in the evening.

The brighter light picked out the scenes and the plants before my dead-heading of the roses which occupied most of the morning. Clicking on any image to access its gallery will reveal titles and locations.

These post prandial photographs were produced during Phoebus’s siesta.

Apollo’s chariot crossed the sky in time for our pre dinner drinks taken on

the decking.

This gave us a pleasant glow.

This evening we dined on Mr Chan’s excellent Hordle Chinese Take Away Fare with which I drank Patrick Chodot Fleurie 2016. You will have noticed Jackie’s Hoegaarden earlier. She finished it on the decking.

  1. What wonderful blossoms Derrick! I especially love your paths. So inviting to explore ❣️Cheers to you and the head gardener ?

  2. The flowers are bright and cheerful whatever the weather. And Jackie’s smile can definitely light up any room–or garden. I’d love to have drinks with you both on your deck.
I like the photo of the brick path that looks like it’s a long road of arches to a magical place (which no doubt your garden is).

  3. Sometimes on weekends, we eat our lunch outside on the good weather days. But, with your garden I would do it very often…and I wouldn’t get my work done. HA! 🙂
Love all of the beauty, especially Jackie’s bright smile! 🙂
HUGS to you both! 🙂 🙂

  4. A great collection of colourful photos Derrick. the garden looks outstanding in the sun, and the sun is coming out here in Geelong too !!

  5. Oh my goodness, your garden gets more spectacular by the minute!! I want to sit on that bench, drench my senses in the sights and smells of your beautiful space, and talk with you and Jackie until your ears fall off!!! <3 <3 I bet you could tell me the name of every one of those flowers! <3

    1. That would be nice! I try to remember all the names of the flowers, but when somebody asks me it usually goes right out of my head!!

      1. Jackie, I’ll bet you know MOST of them. My mother-in-law was like you. She had a pig valve replacing one of her heart valves. She said that’s why she loved so much to root in her garden!

  6. I wonder how many flowers you have got at the moment. It must be hundreds of thousands but I must admit that I don’t have any bright ideas at the moment how to go about counting them.

  7. Such an abundance of colour! 🙂

Quite a clever alliteration, Sir! Helios’s hiatus hopefully had a hasty hesitation before it hovered above the horizon. :-).

I have never before seen a Cordiline Australis flower as prolifically as yours!

  8. Wonderful photos of all the flowers and vistas in your garden. I loved the occasional glimpse of Jackie as she worked her way round her demesne.

  9. I’m afraid on my phone I don’t get any extra info re the photos. I’d love to know what the ones which have pink petals and yellow centres are called. I noticed some on my travels today and was most taken with them.

          1. Something for me to think about – might upset the neighbours if I grow them instead of dandelions between the paving stones!
