Sparkling Jewels

Today dawned bright and sunny. Taking her camera with her, Jackie photographed the garden, glistening after yesterday’s rain. I joined her after a while, adding a few images of my own. We have merged our results.

Raindrops bejewelled individual blooms,

and sunshine brightened every view.

While Jackie was working on the lawn, Nugget did, of course arrive to inspect the works.

He took up a viewing station in his favourite New Zealand hebe,

then dropped down onto a bench to carry out a preening session within inches from the Head Gardener. Suitably satisfied with his ablutions he went into hiding in broad daylight.

“Where’s Nugget?” (19).

This evening we dined on tangy fish pie; crunchy haddock goujons; wholesome champ – an Irish dish consisting of mashed potato and spring onions – tender runner beans; piquant cauliflower cheese; and moist ratatouille. Jackie drank Hoegaarden and I drank Gajewski Shiraz 2018 – an excellent Australian wine brought by Elizabeth on Saturday.

  1. You both make an excellent team! Your photographs are stunning. Look at little Nugget…he’s a good supervisor! There’s another good puzzle. πŸ™‚ Thanks for sharing, Derrick.

  2. Great shots of Gorgeous flowers. Oh, and I loved the close-up of Nugget, you just need snow and you have a Christmas card!
Later I struggled to find him and I’m not even certain if my sighting is correct. Rather than spoil it now I will give you the map reference in the morning!

  3. j’adore nuggets j’adore votre jardin je vous remercie infiniment d’Γͺtre ce que vous Γͺtes

  4. The flowers are stunningly beautiful!
    Nugget is a gem!
But you and Jackie are the sparkling jewels to me! You two bring beauty, joy, smiles, warmth, and so much, with your photographs and your words! You lighten the burdens of life and you brighten the days! Thank you!
    HUGS!!! πŸ™‚
PS…I think Nugget thinks it’s his place and he is allowing you and Jackie to live there! Ha! πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜›

  5. Such a glorious looking garden. I think they always look better in the sunshine after a shower. πŸ™‚

Just adore the Nugget photos, as ever. πŸ™‚ I believe today Nugget is doing his ‘Me and My Sha-dow!) routine on the ‘avenue’ – he’s such a ham! πŸ˜‰

  6. Your garden looks wonderful, and Nugget is such a tease. I have some bird news too; last week, I was thrilled to see a Downy Woodpecker in my garden. A rare treat! πŸ˜€

  7. The raindrops on petals make for some wonderful photos Derrick. Nugget was a little trickster in this one. Proving that he is as adept to hiding in the light as he is in the shadows as he strolls around in plain sight.

  8. Hi D – thanks for the blooms and my favorite of this post are the four shots of nugget and the bench and the flowers there – so cool in the grid like that

  9. Bejewelled indeed. Those roses are even more beautiful when sparkling in water droplets. And I loved this “Suitably satisfied with his ablutions.” I am envious of your great photos of Nugget. You are getting so many finely detailed close ups.
