Blog Vs Blog

Today we travelled to Southampton Airport to meet John Corden, our blogging friend fromΒ Ballarat who has come for 24 hours, direct from Jersey en route to Peterborough and back home to Oz..

This is us meeting for the first time.

Anyone who has followed either of our blogs (John’s as Paol Soren) will not be surprised to learn that we had great fun swapping stories before the three of us dined on

Jackie’s succulent beef and mushroom pie; creamy mashed potato; crisp carrots and cauliflower; with tender cabbage. The Culinary Queen and John drank Hardy’s Premium Selection Limestone Coast Chardonnay 2017 and I drank Lindeman’s Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 – both wines produced by John.

  1. Dear folks, Due to mental starvation and the inability to work the internet, ( and Derrick’s computer) I can not post my own story. But, what Derrick said was true. Except he didn’t say Jackie’s pie was the most bestest pie I have ever had and she didn’t drink Hoegaarden. She acted like a proper person and quaffed wine.

  2. This is wonderful Derrick… I’ve had the pleasure of meeting a few fellow bloggers in person…. they’ve been enjoyable and memorable events…. My sister and brother live in Ballarat, about an hour northwest of Geelong !!

  3. How absolutely wonderful!
Hello John, welcome to our little island. I hope you’re enjoying your stay. Apologies for the weather that is about to hit our shores. Don’t use a brolly cos it’s unlikely to stay up! πŸ˜€

Derrick and Jackie, how lovely for you both! πŸ™‚

      1. I can imagine John is delighted with your wonderful hospitality. Your pie was absolutely mouth watering and looked delicious! Thank you for your reply, Jackie.

  4. isn’t it fun to meet virtual friends in “real time”? I know Gary and I had a great time when he visited South Beach.
Jackie’s pie looks spectacular – my compliments to the Culinary Queen.

  5. Meeting a distant blogger outside of blogland might be like stepping into another dimension. I’m glad you had such a good time.

  6. Wow, I’m glad I dandered over to your blog today, Derrick. How nice to see you two chaps together, and John gabbing instead of eating Jackie’s lovely pie! Tell John it’s trying mighty hard to rain here in Myrtlrford.

    1. Will do Yvonne. John spoke a lot about you yesterday. He is looking forward to your responses to the extra stories he’s gathering on his trip. Thanks very much.

  7. OMG, I wish I had known about the Spy vs Spy cartoon for today’s post!! That is hysterical. I recall something similar from my childhood.

  8. How wonderful! I’m sure the three of you had a delightful time getting together, and I’m positive Jackie’s meal was as delicious as it looks (or more so).

  9. Gosh, amidst all the great meeting and greeting and talking, I got laser focused on that really beautiful pie. I believe it was delicious and would indeed require a nap after consumption.

  10. What a lovely gift – each of you to each other, now you to us – the blogging world is so wonderful in how it makes us all closer πŸ™‚
