Comedienne Mode

Around this time of year we are normally visited by small green

crickets, one of which Jackie photographed this morning.

Later I photographed Ellie in her comedienne mode. Each one of these faces is a deliberate attempt to be funny, which of course warrants and receives the desired response.

These last two were taken in the garden where we were seated with Elizabeth who had visited for a chat and a couple of cups of tea, on the still breezy patio where we watched

fuchsias and verbena bonariensis swaying;

hanging baskets swinging;

shadows shifting;

windmills whirring;

potted impatiens quivering;

and listened to such as laundry baskets sliding across the paving; the clanking of metal artefacts and thud of wooden items falling somewhere, and the ubiquitous swishing of foliage.

This evening we all dined on further helpings of Jackie’s chicken jalfrezi meal and her fresh batch of pilau rice, with which she drank more Zesty and I drank more Gran Selone.

  1. Lovely photos of Ellie. And, I just noticed the ‘dark mode’ toggle at the bottom and gave it a try. I rather like it. It’s not as stark as a pure black, which I don’t like so much.

  2. There is nothing like a baby to bring out the comedian in all of us. I love the first picture which seems to indicate your last joke wasn’t funny.

    1. Thank you very much Elizabeth – especially for noticing that she has joined in the family responses to my Jokes 🙂

      1. In fact she was imitating my mournful bottom lip pose when I’m pretending to be disappointed

  3. I don’t know if anything could be more pleasant than a baby making purposely funny faces to get reactions and a breezy, beautiful garden. I can do without the crickets though. 😉

  4. Yes, you must respond to each and every expression…undoubtedly with laughter and applause! 🙂
    Ellie is a cutie! 🙂 ❤️ The scrunched-up nose, hand on chin, photo made me snort-laugh! 🙂
    Cricket (nice photo, Jackie!), baskets, flowers, windmill, shadows, laundry basket…hmm…Ellie IS STILL the star of this show! Ha! 🙂 ❤️
    (((HUGS))) ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

  5. Sitting in the garden sounds so delightful, Derrick! Ellie is so adorable, I love the many expressions she has. Dinner sounds so delicious! ????????????

  6. Beautiful Ellie is trying her best to communicate through her non-verbal vocabulary and succeeding. I particularly liked the windmill. The penultimate para vividly brought the sounds of the wind busily interacting with things about the house.

  7. Ellie is such an expressive child. I think she will be famous when she grows up!

    May you and Jackie have many more tears of sitting in the garden together and enjoying life. What a wonderful day from end to end!
