This morning I worked on the next “A Knight’s Tale” post.
On this unseasonably balmy afternoon Jackie drove us up to the north of the forest, where
donkeys on the road outside Faraway Cottage caused a certain amount of traffic chaos.
My chauffeuse parked at Godshill Pit while I wandered among
dappled woodland with variously hued bracken and tree foliage.
Jackie also pictured spiky gorse, brown and green bracken; and, as I ambled along she produced an image for “Where’s Derrick?” (5)
As we passed a pair of Joggers on the road outside Hale, one, like me in my jacket, had found the day hotter than expected, prompting her to complete the peeling of her sweater.
This evening we dined on succulent pork chops served on a moist melange of leaks, peppers, and onions; boiled and roasted potatoes; flavoursome roast parsnips; crisp Yorkshire pudding, and tasty gravy with which Jackie drank Hoegaarden and I finished the zinfandel.
This past week was an unseasonably warm week as well… in the mid 80 F temps. You have a very unique landscape.
We are very lucky, Dwight. Thank you very much
Luckily, I was on my way out the door to pick up a friend to go to a restaurant for comida when I decided to stop and read a few blogs. Your ending promptly whetted my appetite, as usual, and this time I won’t have to wait for hours to satisfy the urge!
🙂 I trust you enjoyed your meal -which I looked up – thanks for the intro, Judy
Beautiful colors. It seems to glow. Lovely photos by you and Jackie. (You are well-hidden.)
A store near us has that Zinfandel. I may have to try it. 😀
Thanks very much from us both, Merril. I hope you both like the wine.
I’ll let you know. We haven’t purchased it yet.
Jackie, you took a great picture, but Derrick is too big to hide, haha 🤓
And Derrick, what are you ding taking a picture of a jogger taking her clothes off – (just kidding of course). 😉
Thanks very much from us both, GP. You wouldn’t expect me to miss that pic, now would you?
Of course not!!
Oh, I see you hidden. A beautiful place to walk. 🙂
Well seen, Chrissy. Thanks very much
Enjoy the warmth while it lasts, guys! The forest floor there looks very much like it does in Michigan, my home state. It smells so good! 😂❤️🇬🇧
Thanks a lot from us both, John
Any day that includes snapped forest pics automatically becomes a better day.
Thanks a lot, Pat
I particularly like the backlit bracken and Jackie’s “Where’s Derrick?”
Thanks very much from us both, Liz
You’re welcome, Derrick.
I saw you!
It looks as though there might be a lot of rain to go with this unseasonable warmth soon.
Well seen, Tootlepedal. You are right about the rain. Thanks a lot
Lovely woodland images. Your jacket blends in very well amongst the shades of autumn reds and brown.
Thanks very much, Sue. Well spotted
We are still living in summer, fall has not reached Ohio yet -which is weird, or perhaps just the new and warmer normal.
It seems like it, Bridget. Thanks very much.
You are well camouflaged amongst the bracken, but I spy you!
Jackie’s selection of vegetables sounds like a wonderful transition from late summer to Autumn; perfectly chosen. 🙂
A good point about the veg, and well spied, Emma. Thank you very much
Warmer than usual in Maine, too. Haven’t even had a hard frost yet, which we usually have by the end of September.
Thanks very much, Laurie. I expect Clif will get his gauge out in time
I see you! Beautiful shots, Derrick. Enjoy the warmth while it lasts.
Thanks very much, Jill. Well seen
Beautiful photos, Derrick and Jackie!
Great “W’sD” photo, Jackie! He is camouflaged so well in the autumn-ness around him! 🙂
I bet Derrick was easy to find when you put the pork chops (and ETC!) on the table! 😉 😀 😛
Yum on all the veggies you served! 🙂 I could eat up any leftovers for you! 😉
You know I always love seeing the donkeys! I hope nobody yelled at them, or told them “Move your a$$!” 😮
Stay cool…don’t drool! (Cooper added the “don’t drool” part! 😀 )
((((HUGS))) <3 🙂
PS…
Q: What did the donkey do when he saw a bad driver?
A: HEE-HAWnked his horn!
Thanks very much from us both, Carolyn and Cooper. Haw Haw X
You are very visible in the pictures Jackie took.
Thank you very much, Mrs W. Well seen
Your welcome.
Lovely.
Thanks a lot, Leslie
I think you temp’ Derrick, might higher our miseable spring day of only 16’C
Not what you would expect, I think, Ivor. Thanks very much
We are well below the averages at the moment
It’s been awful here today. Cold, Misty and really damp. It’s definitely an Indian Summer here 😂😂😂😂
Thanks a lot, Gary
Enjoy the warmth beautiful photos
Thanks very much, More
You’re welcome Derrick
So, bracken is a type of fern? By whatever name, I’ve always loved their primal look and have some ferns in my shady front yard.
Yes, JoAnna, it is our most common one. Thanks very much
Even among the various hues, Derrick’s red jacket stands out.
Thanks very much, Dolly. Well spotted
You are very welcome, Derrick.
Another lovely spot for a walk. It took me a moment but I did spot Derrick!
Thanks a lot, AnneMarie. Well spotted
Your unseasonable warm weather and in our part of the world winter refuses to leave for good! You have captured the turning colours of the bracken very well.
Thank you very much, Anne
We had a wonderfully warm day like that here yesterday. Today we are back in the clouds with rain in the forecast.
I planted the daffodils around your Michael’s tree early this afternoon. A ring of 30 golden beauties.
Thank you so very much for my memorial planting, Lavinia. Our forecast is the same
It is so dark here. The rainy season hasn’t left yet.
Thanks a lot, Arlene
Sorry, but I couldn’t find you in Photo No 5 but I did spot a Bigfoot in one of the other ones.
:0 Thanks a lot, John
I enjoyed traveling through the dappled woodland with you, Derrick. These are our last two days in Europe. It’s another magical, blue sky day here. We had tomato fondue for lunch and raclette for dinner last night with which we drank a yummy Syrah and an Italian Nebbiolo 😃
Thanks very much, Jan. Enjoy your last days and your trip back home X
Beautiful photos, Derrick, and the scene seems perfect for walking. Our mornings are becoming fallish with lows in the 40s F.
Definitely colder than us at the moment
Yes, and surprising, I think.
Yah, donkeys!!!
Thanks a lot, Sheree
That looks like a determined donkey duo near the Faraway Cottage. It is an idyllic photograph nonetheless, and I wish I was home and had the luxury of a larger screen which would have also facilitated solving the puzzle ‘Where ‘s Derrick?’ Your shooting predilections have kindled in me an interest for the fallen foliage and trees.
Thank you very much, Uma. I, too, wish you were home.
The Autumn colours starting to show. 😀
They are. Thanks very much, Widders
Another beautiful walk into the nature! Derrick is blending perfectly between those brown and green bracken 😉
Well spotted, Ribana. Thanks very much
