I have decided that, even when a day is like today, overcast, very cold, and not conducive to leaving the house that, in order to keep my legs moving, I should practice using my Nordic poles. I therefore took a circular tour round the garden, down the Back Drive and along to No. 17 Downton Road and back. This took 15 minutes.
I then continued with my picture culling.
I have saved only Carrie and the Hang Gliders from
none from either
or
and just two from
I spent the afternoon with ‘The Brontës’.
This evening we dined on chicken Kiev; oven chips; green beans; fried peppers and mushrooms; and cauliflower with its chopped up leaves. To drink I finished the Douro.
Good idea practicing in your own environment
Thank you very much, Catherine
Carrie and the Hang Gliders sounds like a garage band from the ’80s.
I’m pleased you spotted that, Linda. Thanks very much
The Nordic poles are a good aid, I see a number of walkers using them while walking along our track, Derrick
Thank you very much, Ivor
I hope that you take to the poles. I found that I needed quite a few goes to get comfortable with them, even though I had done some cross country skiing.
Thank you very much, Tootlepedal. They are helpful, but I’ll never cover any distance again.
How do you like your activity poles? I have used mine once since PT when one of my calf muscles felt unstable and I was walking over uneven ground. Congratulations on you plan to walk daily around the garden. Good for you.
Thank you very much, Pat. They keep me well balanced and are easier on the knees.
Good for you getting out and about like this, Derrick! Yay!!
Thanks very much, John
You are welcome.
I did a bit of photo culling today myself!
Congrats, Liz. Thank you very much
Thanks, Derrick–and you’re welcome!
Good job keeping those legs moving!
Thank you very much, JoAnna
It is not possible now from the Jetpack Reader to be able to comment on the linked posts unless you log into the WordPress website. Perhaps it is yet another security feature in an increasingly firewalled world with layers of authentications. On the contrary, the likes of Arthur Conan Doyle lay in eternal silence on a quiet patch of land, undeterred by the hurly burly of the terra firma. Brontës too.
Thank you so much, Uma
Glad you got out and about! Sounds like a good day with some good things enjoyed! 🙂
Love the donkeys dining (or dining donkeys) photo! 🙂
(((HUGS))) ❤️❤️
Thank you very much, Carolyn XX
Who wouldn’t want to spend the afternoon with the Brontës? 😉
Walking in your garden with the poles sounds like a good idea.
Thank you very much, Merril
Good for you, getting out on the path. I am at a stage now, having just begun my daily physical therapy yesterday after taking a month off. I feel that any day either Pedro or I (or anyone) successfully completes some exercise is a cause for celebration.
I was lucky to be 75 before my knees gave out. Thank you very much, Crystal
That is good you are using the walking poles and keeping moving, Derrick.
I enjoyed looking back through the old posts. It must be hard to cull all these precious photos of old times.
Thanks very much, Lavinia. I don’t delete many of the older ones – and still have the slides, negatives, and prints
Keep up the walking, Derrick!
Thank you very much, Barbara
Oops, I forgot to do my own culling today
Thank you very much, Sylvie
I rather like the image that you spending time with the Brontes conjures up.
Thank you very much, Sheree 🙂
Practising with your poles to keep your legs exercising is a good idea.
Thank you very much, Sue
The poles will take a while to feel natural
Thanks very much, Gary
Great way to keep active. Funny how I’m here wishing for a cool weather. It’s so hot here
Thank you very much, Mimi
