I know my mobile phone is working now, because O2 and Carphone Warehouse continue to send me texts and e-mails containing special offers, and reviews about their service. Some people are gluttons for punishment.
This was another day of sunshine and showers.
The daffodils I photographed yesterday were all in close-up. This is the general effect they give across the garden. Through the arch in the centre, installed by The Head Gardener a month or two ago, can be seen a couple of the camellias.
We weren’t expecting these Diamond Jubilee tulips, planted last year, to have such short legs.
In the front garden, Jackie has erected a little arbour in which to take a rest. This has tiered pots of flowers. These daffodils must cause some confusion to passing drivers. Naturally there are a couple of owls occupying the fence, one a little further along.
Last weekend, when we were away, Aaron and Robin had filled two more of the canvas bags with tree cuttings. This afternoon, we felt well enough to take these to the Efford Recycling Centre. Two trips were enough for us.
As we have often wondered, what other municipal dump, would offer such views on the approach and beyond the containers?
This evening we dined on the remains of yesterday’s pasta bake, supplemented by fried bacon and mushrooms, and La Doria tinned ratatouille, kept for such emergencies. Dessert was Tesco’s zesty lemon tart. Water was imbibed
Derrick, I really like your layered garden’s appearance. It is such a beautiful scene of retreat and serenity. I enjoy every direction with trellises and nice details. There is a tree with a twisted trunk in one of your photos that is interesting.
Your dinner of pasta bake sounds delicious, with fried bacon and mushrooms added. Still drinking water, though. Must be battling flu or cold still. Hope you and Jackie feel much better very soon. ♡
Many thanks, Robin. We will survive
I see you two are still recovering, but one would never know it after seeing that lovely garden.
Thanks, GP
I have just realised that after feeling poorly, alcohol is the last thing reintroduced into your diets. This is where I am going wrong 🙂
Thanks, Pauline. It does the head no favours
You always make me laugh, and then nod my head in agreement, Pauline. 🙂
I can see you, Yvonne
Good to see you out and about, if only the dump. My favourite tip has been renamed a ‘resource centre’. Do visit their website if you’re interested in such things: Kimbriki.com and watch their 10 minutes video. The place is massive so it’s a good armchair tour.
I see that spring has come early at yours. Sunshine and daffodils.
Many thanks, Mary
Compliments to your Head Gardener. I love your vertically challenged tulips. 🙂
Thanks, Sylvia
Glad you’re both feeling better. Our recycling centre has a gathering of displaced gnomes. My sweetheart has so far managed to cadge two of them and has his eyes on more.
My experience with my old mobile supplier opened my eyes up to the contempt with which customer service teams can treat lucrative, loyal customers – and the ineptness of their systems. Sorry if that seems mean – I’ve managed to resist commenting about that but it’s finally sneaked out.
Absolutely right, Susan. Thanks
Hardly relevant to this post, but what a brilliant ID handle! I see you’re in marketing, so perhaps less surprise, but verbally most picturesque, anyway.
I’m happy you’re feeling better and dined on a nice meal, Derrick. Your garden is absolutely breathtaking.
Many thanks, Jill. After the autumn clear up, we are looking forward to the new growth
The dump in our town is called “The Beauty Spot”. I think yours is more beautiful than ours 🙂
Thanks, Weekly. 🙂
Sorry to hear about you being ill – glad you’re on the mend. I just came in from outside, where I too, filled an entire bin with cuttings. Spring is here, and I’m making room for more plants – hooray!
Thanks, Anna. Yes, it’s here
I hope you feel better soon. Saw some daff’s today in my own garden as I was trimming the roses. Does the head gardener know what to do with cuttings of roses? I’ve got some in water and need to do a bit of research. Your garden is lovely and a few weeks ahead of us!
Many thanks, Lisa. Jackie says she’s never actually done roses, but has always meant to do so. Maybe she can learn from you
I looked it up. They’re supposed to go into soil and be kept damp. I’ll give it a try.
Good luck. We look forward to progress
I no expert in this, but I thought one grafted roses, like fruit trees.
I think that is one way
“another day of sunshine and showers” ~ and with the great views of your garden, you’ll be feeling great in no time. Wish you well.
Glad you are both on the mend. When I lived in Ringwood, I loved going to the recycling centres in The New Forest. I always seemed to come away with more than I went with!
Thanks, Sol. Snap
Isn’t that what “recycling” is? I’ve had the wrong idea all along 🙂
What I’d give to smell flowers and feel a warm spring breeze upon my skin.. I want winter to end! And thank you for reminding me of what I have to look forward to Derrick.. Great writing and pictures as always my friend. Merci! Miigwetch and a thank you!
Many thanks, Snowy
Oh, that garden!
Thanks, Laurie
Plants look so health, so glad to see beautiful blooms. 🙂
Thanks, Amy
