Ground Floor Completed

At intervals during the day I finished reading ‘The Woman in White’ which I had neither time to review nor to scan the illustrations from The Limited Editions Club edition from 1964. I will do this tomorrow.

By early afternoon Nick had completed his transformation of our entrance hall/my office and the vestibule. In previous years he has decorated our sitting room and our kitchen to the same exemplary standard.

Once more demonstrating his flexibility he applied the final stages to the paintwork and gathered up his dust sheets which he carried upstairs where, tomorrow, he is to start on the Garden Room bedroom which we cleared as best we could for his access.

This evening we dined on succulent roast chicken; crisp roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding; sage and onion stuffing; crunchy carrots; firm Brussels sprouts; and tangy red cabbage, with tasty gravy. Jackie drank Pays de l’Aude RosΓ© 2020, Becky and Ian drank Zesty; and I drank more of the Durif Shiraz.

I am an octogenarian enjoying rambling physically and photographing what I see, and rambling in my head as memories are triggered. I also ramble through a lifetime's photographs. In these later years much rambling is done in a car.

  1. Nick has such a beautiful smile! πŸ™‚ And he is doing such great work!
Be glad it was him, and not me, doing the work for MANY reasons! Ha! πŸ˜‰ One of the reasons being I might have needed a helping hand to get back up off the floor! πŸ˜‰ HA! πŸ˜›
Oooh, I look forward to reading your book review and seeing the illustrations!
Your meals sounds delicious! I, too, enjoy my carrots crunchy carrots and my Brussels sprouts firm. πŸ™‚
(((HUGS))) to you and Jackie and everyone at your home! πŸ™‚ ❀️

  2. I look forward to your review – am not surprised there was no time to do it today if you had to clear a room in preparation for painting!

  3. I look forward to the review also. Another superb workman example. I envy anyone who can get up and down off the floor easily. I can still do it, but it is neither swift nor pretty. I’d be happy to accept a dinner invitation any time Jackie feels like extending one. πŸ˜‰

  4. I did the gloss painting a few years ago to skirting boards etc… Hummmm… Not sure my knees would stand it now… I said then this will be the last time, next time decorators .. LOL… Rather him than me.. lol πŸ™‚

  5. “Garden Room bedroom” now that sounds grand. Nick can paint our spare/hobby bedroom anytime but neither spare bedroom or hobby room doesn’t sound anywhere near as grand.

  6. Congratulations on your sparkling new ground floor ambience. Only thing I am left to wonder is how Nick will have his clothes cleaned! Enlightenment on β€˜The Woman in White’ is awaited.
