A Tribute To Donkeys

Anne, of Something Over Tea, in today’s post World Donkey Day 2025 enjoined us to honour a donkey today.

Here are just a few of the 455 images that I am honoured to feature scattered among my posts.

I read more of ‘Anglo Saxon England this afternoon.

Early this evening I was visited by a representative of Hampshire Police following up my recent ransomware experience, which will be added to their information. The policeman was very helpful and encouraging, gave me good advice, and left me useful reading material.

Later this evening we dined on baked gammon with a mustard sauce; new potatoes, carrots, broccoli and cauliflower, with which Jackie drank more of the rosé and I drank Washington State Limited Edition Merlot 2022, with which we toasted our American friends.

  1. Good donkey day tribute.

I am pleased to find that the police took your criminal assault seriously. Just because it was digital shouldn’t make a difference.

  2. What a delightful tribute to World Donkey Day, Derrick! They are lovable members of the equine world, and have shouldered more than share of mankind’s load. I think I recognize some of the photos are being your own children. Is the littlest human on the rocker Elowen?

    1. Yes, Ellen, Lavinia. Sam and Matthew are the other two. Thank you very much

  3. I love this! The shaggy ones are my favorites. Maybe one day, I’ll get to know a donkey in person. Until then, I’ll continue to enjoy your photos. That eye close up is superb!

  4. What a beautiful tribute to such gentle, often underappreciated animals. There’s something so soulful about donkeys—their quiet strength and calm presence. Your words and photos really capture that essence. Thank you for reminding us to see the grace in the humble.

  5. I am a great lover of donkeys. They are sad, stubborn and resilient of everything that man throws at them. Thank you for the photographs Derrick.

  6. Lovely tribute! Yay! World Donkey Day! I love donkeys! 🙂
I studied about donkeys years ago…I learned that donkey’s are not stubborn so much as they are very intelligent and have great memories. Their IQs are analogous to human IQ 100. So if they are balking, for example, and not wanting to move forward…it’s not stubbornness, it’s that something is something wrong up ahead and they are trying to communicate that.
    (((HUGS))) ❤️❤️
