Early this afternoon we received a further oil-fired radiator from Amazon. This had kept us in until 4 p.m. when we ventured out into another cold-blue-sky day in search of a forest sunset.
We drove up Holmsley Passage turning right into Clay Hill at the top.
There the golden disc flirted with trees and clouds,
burnishing the trees above their reflections in the pool home to mallards,
past which a solitary grey pony emerged from the dingy dusk.
Along Bisterne Close the fiery sun slowly slipped into indigo clouds above icy, reflecting, recently filled concavities.
Further verges along the close contained some of the many lingering ice patterns in the woods and moorland, featuring leaves above and below them.
This evening we dined on Jackie’s wholesome chicken stewp with fresh crusty bread. She drank Hoegaarden and I finished the Shiraz.
Gorgeous sunset 🌇. Lots of animals that know how to pose. Glad you have some heat.
Thank you very much, Pat
Very beautiful photos, Derrick! The first set has such gorgeous colors. ❤️🇬🇧
Thank you very much, John
Glad you had a source of heat. Your photos look magical.
Thank you so much, Laurie
Yes, ,a magical set of sunset photographs. It’s not always fun waiting for the Amazon man / woman. I try to be patient, though, because it’s definitely not a job I could do.
Thanks very much, John
Yesterday I realised that your posts are no longer coming into my reader. I know others have mentioned this since your switch from WordPress hosting. I hadn’t noticed before because I receive an email each morning and read through that.
After I tinkered with which of your sites I was following, I thought I’d broken it entirely and was not to receive further emails either! It was a bit later this morning, but in it came – phew!
Sunset circa 4pm. LOL. But at least such events keep you close to the seasonal cycles – something not as obvious here in Oz as you know.
Thank you so much for your perseverance, Gwen
Beautiful photos. The grey pony is like a vision.
Good luck with the heater.
Thank you very much, Merril
I’m glad you managed to get out of the house today and with a bonus of the gorgeous images of sunset.
Thank goodness for the extra radiators plus a little extra warmth from the sun itself.
Thanks very much, Sue
I LOVE the first three sunset photos! They’re quite special.
Thank you very much, Liz
You’re welcome, Derrick.
You can’t have too many heaters at this time of year.
Thanks very much, Tootlepedal
Beautiful sunset photos and fascinating ice patters. The first ice photo reminds me of a spider web. Glad you, two are staying warm.
Thank you so much, JoAnna
Gorgeous photos, D. Dinner sounded lovely.
Thank you very much, Diana
Those sunset photos are beautiful, I am glad you have an additional heater, Derrick and Jackie.
Thank you so much from us both, Lavinia
Gorgeous colors in the sky. I thought your ice patterns were cobwebs.
Thank you very much, Judy
In the midst of your boiler woes, you managed to make some fabulous photographs.
Thank you so much, Sherry. It is warmer in the car 🙂
Since you mentioned Amazon, I looked up the oil-filled heaters there. Now, I understand what you’re talking about. I could have one myself, if I trotted down to our local Home Depot store. They’re really clever devices. Now, I can’t understand why I’ve never come across one here, since they’re sold in a variety of stores. Perhaps they’re more common in more northerly areas.
Perhaps so. They are also considered the most economic because they keep the oil hot. Thanks very much, Linda
Gorgeous photos! The photo with the pony is magical and like something out of a story book.
Thank you so much, Eugi
So glad your boiler woes are finally over! Yes??? The photos of sunset are striking in their beauty. The white pony with the back drop of glistening water is perfect, joyful!
Not quite over, Zakiah. Another engineer coming tomorrow. Thanks very much
Ooooh! That “grey pony … from the dingy dusk” captivated me! What a gorgeous animal captured magnificently by my favorite photographer!
Thank you so much, Jan X
I love the sunset photos!!
Thank you very much, Aletta
Absolutely beautiful!
