The Garden Awakes

Yesterday Martin made further progress on the completed patio.

His paving pattern is laid ready for grouting; sleepers are in place;

the step up to the Dead End Path is progressing;

and the steps into the house are ready to be boxed in.

Today I cleared the area between the oil tank and the garden shed in readiness for the new container due to be installed on Monday. The black bags in the foreground are two of three more destined for recycling at Otter Nurseries.

I am temporarily storing further materials on the Shady Path. In the bottom right hand corner of this picture can be seen a small crocus closed up because this was late in the day, and a few of the swathes

of snowdrops now blooming.

Camellias continue to do so,

as do hellebores and irises..

Later, I recovered images and set header pictures for the following two posts:

This evening we dined on pepperoni pizza and plentiful fresh salad, with which I drank more of the Shiraz and Jackie drank Hoegaarden.

  1. Always full of interest. Such a busy life. I don’t know how you manage to keep on top of everything.

  2. YAY, Martin! The patio looks wonderful! 🙂
    Such beautiful flowers! My Dad loved irises and always had many in his many gardens. They always remind me of him. He had flower gardens, many trees, and a HUGE veggie garden! As a little girl, I enjoyed working in the gardens with him. 🙂
    (((HUGS))) 🙂 ❤️❤️
    PS…we were supposed to get up to 6 inches of snow yesterday, but only got 2.
    PPS…I spotted a parliament ( 😉 ) of owls in your photos! Hoot and YAY! 🙂

  3. Everything looks like it is coming into place nicely. Martin does very good work. The first spring bulbs to flower are always a treat to see, especially that little blue snow iris.

  4. It seems you’ve pulled well ahead of us in spring blooms. The flowers are beautiful — especially the iris! And the patio is looking good — you really do have a gem in that Martin.

  5. What a good idea regarding the small enclosed gardens it will soften the paving. Nothing quite like a hard surface to put chairs and table with an umbrella during inclement summer days. The iris is beautiful.

  6. Ah, the first signs of spring. I’ll bet it feels good to be clearing out and readying your beautiful garden. We’re seeing a few bulbs emerging here as well, mostly hyacinth and freesia. The scents are intoxicating. Do you have a favorite spring flower, Derrick? How about Jackie?
