Roses Coming Into Their Own

This morning I recovered two pictures for the post: https://derrickjknight.com/2019/11/19/the-dental-riskits/

After lunch I carried out a weeding and dead heading task before

photographing a few flowers, each image of which bears a title in the gallery. Scented roses are now coming into their own.

This evening we all dined on Jackie’s tangy lemon chicken and colourful savoury rice with which she drank Dellie Venezie Pinot Grigio 2022 and I drank more of the Rioja.

    1. Thank you very much, Anne. When we created the rose garden we chose those with good scent

  1. Gorgeous flowers! You know I love purple irises! The roses look perfect!
So many happy flowers in your garden…they are taken care of, and loved, so well.
A fave quote from one of my fave book series as a little girl…“It was June, and the world smelled of roses. The sunshine was like powdered gold over the grassy hillside.” – Maud Hart Lovelace
    (((HUGS))) ❤️
PS…For some reason I couldn’t see the names of the flowers/titles in the photo gallery.

    1. Thanks very much, Carolyn. I had put in all the names, dammit. That is a lovely quotation X

  2. Wow, so many beautiful photos today, Derrick! Jackie’s dinner sounds so delicious, yes please! ????❤️????????

    1. Thanks for letting me know and for your appreciation, Tootlepedal. I had put them in. Dammit

  3. The colours are beautiful.
We have had a week of dank days with very little sun but today we plan to tackle the front garden that has been neglected since before the concrete work began. I noticed when I wandered with a coffee before breakfast that a few Autumn flowers were beginning to bloom. The evening meal sounds awesome.

  4. What’s amazing is, I’ve seen so many flower photos here on your blog, seems like hundreds, and they are ALL different and they are ALL beautiful!

  5. Are these all current photos? If so, your garden has certainly come into full bloom. Can you take a photo of the entire garden… or parts of it?

    1. Yes, they are current. Will do another set of shots from upstairs. Thanks very much, Judy

  6. Your garden is gorgeous! Thank you for sharing, Derrick. Wish we could pop over and share a glass of rioja with you!

  7. I can see them now.
    I like learning the names.
I thought the yellow rose was Arthur Bell, but wasn’t 100% sure. Now I see it is! I love yellow roses! I remember learning that the Arthur Bell rose is named for the Scottish whisky manufacturer.

  8. Your garden is showing us its majesty, Derrick. Stunning photos.

I use you as an info source. Whenever I see a plant that I have, I check your labels to make sure I am calling mine the same thing. Often I am not. lol TOday the lamium matched.

Thanks for all of your education over the years.
    xo,
    Jodie

  9. No roses in our yard, so I appreciate seeing yours. I think they are fussy in my neighborhood and few seem to plant them. The wild rose does flourish, especially by the ocean.
