Having made more progress on printing the flyers last night, I have run out of several inks and therefore ordered more on line today, in addition to paper for the photographic prints. That is not a major problem.
The daffodils and primulas in Jackie’s tiered front garden pots are now in full bloom,
offering an interesting conundrum to those driving by. To the right is the autumn flowering cherry that has bloomed throughout the winter.
Different varieties of daffodil bloom in the main garden,
and on the back drive,
where we also have primroses.
From that drive we transported three more canvas bags of cuttings to Efford Recycling Centre; one Aaron had filled on Sunday, and two more we filled today. That meant three trips. On the first we returned with a mirror and a quartz clock which did not work when we inserted a battery; on the second
a rather splendid cane chair in need of a cozy corner.
This, of course had to go straight onto the decking.
On the third trip the Head Gardener garnered a well weathered, and therefore probably frost proof, terra cotta pot. If we discount the clock that didn’t work, that makes three for them and three for us.
This evening we dined on Jackie’s excellent chilli con carne, vegetable rice, and green beans. I drank more of the El Sotillo and Jacki abstained.
A splendid gardener in her splendid chair. 🙂
Thanks, Mary
Wow Mary, Thank you.
Thank you, Jackie for creating a beautiful garden that we can all enjoy. Thank you, Derrick for your documentary.
Love seeing Jackie in full spender sitting on her chair, my first thought was how much I love this women and then, I miss her….

Many thanks, Pauline
Oh my dearest Pauline, tear in eye as I write, see you soon!!!
Looks more like a throne than a chair, but a great gardener deserves a great chair.
She would agree, Quercus. Thanks
So kind of you to say so, pleased with the chair and the price of only £5.
It is great value – hope you enjoy it.
Great chair. And all your blossoms are lovely as well. We have some small magnolias in bloom and forsythia as well as daffodils. The magnolias have a lovely scent! It sounds as though you’re both feeling better. Hope your ink and paper comes fast!
Thanks, Lisa. I won’t mind a day or two off printing leaflets 🙂
Lovely post, Derrick – Love to see your yard and house and head gardener – and your feet! Oh, and that is quite a chair! Jealous – I would love just such a thing for my little front patio.
Thanks, Jodie
I hadn’t seen my feet!!
That is ‘quite a chair’ as you say, Jodie, and collected from the recycle centre (AKA The Dump) for only £5 ! can’t get better than that!
I love that you can find beauty wherever it is. So many overlook it.
Lovely comment Jodie, thanks
Beau-ti-ful!
Hi Jackie! I’m glad you’re well 🙂
In fact, you have to be for the exhibition. right?
I like you’re chair 😀
You’ve done a wonderful garden with Derrick and all your friends <3
Thank you, Monica
Hi Monica, yes I am well, and raring to go now the spring is here! Glad you like the chair and the garden, the exhibition has sort of crept up on me! but I am potting up cuttings and seedlings like crazy now, to sell at the exhibition, all proceeds from the plants are for charity.
Hi Jackie, I am happy to talk to you. Your garden is absolutely fabulous. I’m sure you love gardening. It is seen in everything you do.
Nice gesture to sell for charity.
Many kisses for you
Awwww . . . It’s like an Easter egg hunt, come too early and minus the eggs 🙂 I love hearing what bits and pieces you two recover from Efford. And it sounds as if you are both feeling a bit tipper now. All the best,
Thanks, Gwen. To you too
That should have read “chipper”. “Tipper”, as in recycling centre, was an accidental pun.
I thought that was a brilliant joke! Should have kept silent!
Freudian slip, really shouldn’t let my mind out on its own at times. But it does have a twisted sense of humour 🙂
Meanwhile in Ottawa, the snow is nearly gone but not enough to prevent my husband from skiing. Your daffs cheered me that spring is somewhere. The chair suits Jackie!
Thank you, Susanne
Glad you like the daffs, they are placed to be seen from our chairs in the sitting room, the view from the road is coincidental.
Jackie in her throne, just where she belongs. 🙂 Such beautiful photos, Derrick. I’m happy you’re both feeling better.
Many thanks, Jill
Thanks for that Jill, can’t sit on it for too long as the weeds are calling!
LOL! Hi, Jackie!
Which is true?

What do Daffodils smell like?
a daffodil in early spring
scent is like no other thing
sweet with a hint of sour
freshest in the morning hour
Actually they have no scent to speak of.
Some are quite strongly scented. Thanks, Johnna
Splendid photos, Del. You are, at last, getting quite good at this photography lark. Innit!
Many thanks, Ian 🙂
Don’t tell me, Ian is one of your sons-in-law!
OK, I won’t, Paul. Thanks
It’s no wonder your inks ran out considering the beautiful colours you have in your garden photographs. That looks like a fantastic chair and perfectly suitable for Jackie. In Geneva there was a place called Plaine de Plainpalais with its “marchés aux puces” where I would go “treasure hunting”. Your trip reminded me of that. So glad to see you’re both in fine spirits.
Thanks, Geetha. We almost never come away empty handed
Welcome. You seem to choose wisely (despite the one odd item but of course you could not have known until you actually put the battery in).
Thanks, Geetha. We thought it worth the risk
Definitely worth it 🙂
Lovely flowers, my mom would be jealous. Even has a thrown for the Gardner, nice.
Thanks, Michelle
The Society of Professional Organisers would be most pleased with your three in, three out routine. That chair is a little wonder and maybe your lovely clocksmith can attend to the problem timepiece if it is worth the bother.
Thanks, Pauline. The clock has a quartz movement which probably needs replacing and wouldn’t be worth it. Jackie hasn’t given up on it, though………
Imagine someone discarding that perfectly wonderful chair. Well, it has become your treasure now.
Thanks, Yvonne – £5 bought it
Wonderful photos, love the ‘giant’ daffodils peeking over the fence especially, and the head gardener in her chair 🙂
Thanks, Bianca
A beautiful cane chair looking for a place to call Home.
Great pics as usual.
Thanks, Ian
That’s a cracking chair!
Thanks, John
Another great productive day!
Thanks, GP
Wow, Mum looks like her Dad in that chair!
Thanks Bec, somebody had to look like him I suppose and it does seem to be me.
She often does 🙂
What a haul! A chair fit for the Queen of the gardens. 😉
Thanks, Laurie
Wow! Love your photos! Splendid chair!
Thanks, Sofia
Your blooms are marvelous! We are impatiently waiting for ours:)
Thanks, Elena. Hopefully it won’t be long
I like caned chairs along with seeing Jackie sitting down in it. What a pretty front view with year-round flowering tree and the daffodils with decorative owl peering out between!
Thank you for such observant comments, as always
