A second brood of sparrows has hatched in our downstairs loo extractor fan.

In this corner of the patio this morning I made my minimal contribution to the massive daily watering operation;
Jackie, of course, did so much more, particularly ensuring that all the containers were filled, and that the more thirsty bedded plants did not dry out.
This afternoon Elizabeth, who is staying with us for as long as it takes for her to find a new house, moved in. We enjoyed a relaxing time together before decanting to the Rose Garden for pre-dinner drinks.
We dined on Jackie’s excellent lamb jalfrezi with pilau rice. The Culinary Queen consumed Hoegaarden while Elizabeth and I drank more of the Fleurie.
Your garden looks so peaceful, filled with many soft colours.
Jackie tends a beautiful outdoor space.

Thank you very much, Melanie X
Nothing that you do qualifies for ‘minimal’. I am sure you are all going to have a great time together.
Thanks very much, Uma
I know how much watering is required by pots, having a mainly potted garden myself – the amount of pots Jackie tends rather boggles my mind though! The photos are just lovely – I’ve spent a while looking again to get my daily summer garden fix ๐
You’ll have to keep us going during our winter, Pauline. : )
Very many thanks, Pauline
It seems such an effort to water our few plants. I’m sure the Culinary Garden Queen is happy to have any help. The garden is beautiful.
I chuckled at decanting to have drinks. ๐
I’m pleased you got that one, Merril. Many thanks
๐
Beautiful!
Thanks very much, Leslie
Stunning garden and looking forward to hearing more of Elizabeth’s sojourn.
Thanks very much, Gwen. Elizabeth rivals you as a researcher, so we should have fun looking. ๐
I have a rival? Not possible ๐

All that watering has paid off.
Thanks very much, Rosaliene. We had a 32% chance of rain overnight. There wasn’t any
Just amazing the amount of blooms per foot. Love it!
Thanks very much, Jodie. We don’t even know how many hanging baskets and other containers there are ๐
I can only aspire to such loveliness.
Hang on to Jackie! I love the white chair for two!
Thanks very much, Jill
What an astounding labor of love! Such wonderful colors!
Thanks very much, Wille
Good luck to Elizabeth with her house hunting. Oh my, the gardens are beautiful!
Many thanks, Laurie
The water and wonderful care you and Jackie give your garden is returned to you as thank you in the form of bright colors and beautiful flower-faces!
Best wishes to Elizabeth as she finds a house to maker her home.
HUGS!!! ๐
Thanks very much, Carolyn X
Well done for helping an endangered species, Derrick! I haven’t seen a House Sparrow in our garden for months.
Thanks a lot, John. The chirping escalates daily. We have another nest in a rusted burglar alarm on the other Side of the house
I wouldnโt call your contribution minimal. Thatโs an astounding amount of watering to be done! Both your efforts have produced a paradise.
Thanks very much, Rose ๐
I mainly have a pot garden, but I have trouble figuring when each one actually needs water. Some get hit by the lawn sprinklers, while others do not and others are in the shade while still more get full sun. Now you see why I am always saying I do not have a green thumb!! ๐
Sticking your thumb in the dirt might help. Thanks very much GP

Your garden looks so pretty, Derrick. Well done to both of you for keeping on with the watering.
Talking of birds as well, I earlier saw what might have been a sparrow pecking under the beans where I watered last night. Hopefully, it found what it was looking for!
I do hope so, Helen. Many thanks
Your garden is beautiful. Hopefully you could make the most in this beautiful English weather this year.
Thanks very much, Sumith
The compassion rose is stunningโand the rest of the garden is fabulous! I’m glad you were able to help with the watering. Watering a garden of that size would be challenging, and I would hope that at least some of it would have automatic sprinklers. I spend more than an hour a day watering my pots and small plot, and long for an automatic system!
Unfortunately we don’t have an automatic sprinkler. Perhaps we should investigate one. Many thanks Diane
Every little bit helps Derrick. I’m sure Jackie aooreciates your help.
Thanks very much, Gary
I love the abundance of delicate flowers mixed in with the larger blossoms. Your garden is an exquisite work of living art.
Very many thanks, JoAnna
I’d love to visit your garden when we come to London in October or has everything been put to bed for the winter by then?
That would be great, Carol. There’ll still be autumn colour about.
I’ll let you know if we can swing by. My husband has clients who used to live not too far from you and he thought it might be fun to check out their old homestead.
Beautiful garden…
Thanks very much, Mysterious
