For the last couple of days Jackie has kept much garden furniture and many hanging baskets grounded against buffeting from the heavy winds. As this afternoon’s gusts swept towards the 60+ m.p.h. we are to expect overnight, there was no reason to lift tables, chairs, parasols, or baskets. Readers may care to spot the dropped baskets in this further collection of

experiments with my new Sigma 35mm lens.

Given that she exchanged contracts on her Pilley house purchase today, it was appropriate that we named the delicious spicy creation that Elizabeth produced for our dinner this evening Pilley Celebration Chicken. This was served with Jackie’s splendid savoury rice and crisp sugar snaps. My sister and I drank Parick Chodot’s Fleurie 2016; my wife drank Hoegaarden.

  1. Congrats to Elizabeth – I feel quite excited for her 🙂 Even with furniture laid neatly on its sides and baskets placed on the ground the garden still manages to be a show pony! This new lens is worth its weight in gold!

  2. Oh, congratulations to your sister!! Now the fun begins! I wish her every happiness in her new home. I am thinking that new lens has added something wonderful, but I can’t tell what – more color? contrast? depth? Definitely more zip of some sort.

  3. After all these years reading your blog and noting how often Jackie’s preferred beverage is beer, it only just now stuck me how perfect the head gardener drinks Hoegaarden. Call me slow. I won’t be hurt by the truth.

  4. I hope your garden (and everything in the garden) is safe and there was no damage! That can be so scary!
Congrats to Elizabeth! I’m excited and happy for her! I pray she has many many many precious years in her new home! 🙂
    The PPC looks delicious! 🙂
All the photos look rich in color and detail! Great new lens doing it’s job! 🙂
    HUGS!!! 🙂
