Sway Open Gardens

Today’s plan was, after an early lunch, to visit as many as possible of the 21 gardens in the village of Sway that were open to the public.

In the event I seem to be experiencing a reaction to yesterday’s Covid booster vaccination so I didn’t trust myself to go wandering about. The ladies therefore left me dozing over a book and

lunched at Rosie Lea while chatting to

a friendly robin. The first gallery of pictures was provided by Jackie, who also took the first two robin shots, while Flo took the third, and all the garden images which are to follow.

They walked around five of the gardens.

The first set are from Tarna on Brighton Road;

then came 4 Buldowne Walk;

followed by Holmlea;

15 Oakenbrow was next;

and finally Ashen Bank in Adlams Lane, where the camera battery expired.

As usual each picture is titled in the galleries.

This evening we dined on the excellent fare of Hordle Chinese Take Away with which Jackie drank Tsing Tao beer and Flo and I didn’t.

I am a septuagenarian enjoying rambling physically and photographing what I see, and rambling in my head as memories are triggered. I also ramble through a lifetime's photographs

  1. Under the circumstances it was wise of you to doze over a book at home. Thank you to Jackie and Flo for the vicarious garden visits – what a pleasure! I hope you will be feeling yourself by tomorrow, Derrick.

  2. A bounty of gardens in your area. Beautiful gardens and excellent photos.
    I hope you’re feeling better. Your sense of humor is still there. 🙂

  3. Sway Gardens are beautiful! I like the Golden Chain tree, we have them in our area too. I hope you feel better soon, Derrick. I felt a little tired and sore for a couple of days, but that passed quickly enough.

  4. Sorry to hear about the booster UGHS. 😦 Hope you feel better soon! ( I had a sore arm and a bit of chills from mine. But it all passed quickly.)
    A HUGE THANK YOU to Flo and Jackie for taking us along with them via photos! What beauty! Such unique plants and flowers! The tree face is cute! The mosaic so pretty! The little robin a joy! The fish are fabulous! The arch is lovely! And that cloud formation looks like lady-shaped. 🙂
    (((HUGS))) for the UGHS! 🙂

  5. Thank you to Flo for all the wondrous photos this morning … it’s a frosty 3’C here in Geelong, a bit chilly yet to take Frankie for a walkie, so I thoroughly enjoyed scanning each individual photo ..

  6. Amazing flowers! Some are very unusual. I reacted significantly to all my covid shots and boosters but felt okay after a couple of days. I hope you are feeling much better soon.

  7. Hope you will recover quickly from the after effects of the vaccine shot. Your photography school has been growing admirably. Thanks to Jackie and Flo for capturing the bunch of exotic flowers and plants.

  8. The shots gave me mild symptoms, but they passed after a good night’s sleep.
    Lovely photos, too bad the battery died.

  9. Tsing Tao beer! I think I’ve commented on it before. Although I’ve never liked beer, I formed an affection for it in China but only found it once in L.A. years later. There is quite a story attached to it and perhaps one day I’ll tell it. I love the one ceramic tile set into the stone pathway and the wooden trellis set into the overgrown garden. (My favorite kind of garden.)
