After I finished drafting yesterday’s post, Richard added the second cupboard fixed to the gravity battens. The horizontal battens in the side-on view will take the panel similar to that held in place by the clamps at the right hand end.
Having increased the capacity of our modern fuse box, our craftsman is rationalising all the kitchen wiring and switches. Having re-plastered the section of wall removed yesterday he then fitted new switches. Standing on a stool he fitted a row of labelled switches for the cooking appliances, then, crouching in the box to take the cooker, laid the cables.
Most of Jackie’s greenhouse cuttings have survived; sweet pea and poppy seeds have germinated.
Bergenias, snowdrops, primulas, and irises can be seen throughout the garden beds.
The earlier daffodils are coming into bloom;
and prolific camellias are burgeoning.
By the end of the day, Richard had installed the new ovens. The appliance visible at bottom right of this picture is the dishwasher which will be installed tomorrow. He had his customary tidy up after I took the photograph. We left him to it while we drove off to dine at Lal Quilla.
At the restaurant I handed Raj the prints for his wall. My main course was lamb jalfrezi; Jackie’s was the Lal Quilla Special of minced lamb and chicken; we shared mushroom rice and egg paratha, and both drank Kingfisher. Raj would take no payment.
For a moment I tough you had fish in a pond. Love the sound of your dinner –even better that it’s free!
My index finger is weak; that is why the h did not register.

The juxtaposition of the flowers and the kitchen readying to bloom may be coincidental but is not without a meaning. The intricate, meticulous work that leads to the final flourish is a lesson in perseverance and patience.

I hadn’t heard of NEFF before (enlarged the photo), but I see it is also available in Australia. Now watch! I’ll see ads for them every time I turn around. I also see they have a sophisticated website showing how to use their products and suggesting recipes. Hours of fun for both of you 🙂 That’s a microwave-over-oven in the picture I’m imagining? I also had a smile at “larder”. We’d tend to call it a pantry over here, with larder suggesting more abundance in the food stock. And I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bespoke kitchen being made on site. It’s more common to have a kitchen installed by joiners using a variety of standard pre-made cupboards. This is very exciting. As is the signs of spring in the wings.

This is all fascinating, Derrick. I love to watch a craftsman at work. We replaced our oven a year ago and got a Neff too. I’m really pleased we did as we have had no problems with it at all. The Neff site has been very useful and their recommended cleaners are brilliant! We got ourselves an extra oven shelf from them a couple of weeks ago.
