Félicité Perpétue

Squeezing my left leg into the car, for a drive into the forest on this very dull day, was less painful again today. As I did so I admired the Félicité Perpétue rose facing me. This, and all the rest of today’s photographs were taken through the passenger seat window.

Garden opposite All Saints Church

The planting in the lane opposite All Saints Church Milford on Sea was at its best.

Thinking that we might be rewarded with a sight of our first cygnets of the season, Jackie headed for Hatchet Pond, where this proved to be the case.

Black-headed gull

A rather high and mighty black-headed gull took exception to our presence.

Motley cattle roamed the woodland along Brockenhurst Road,

where foxglove flowers flourished.

This evening we dined on second helpings of the Forest Tandoori takeaway meal from two days ago.

  1. I cannot count the number of times I wanted to photograph a scene out of the car window but didn’t have a Jackie at the wheel. Lucky for us you do.

      1. I have taken plenty of photos through windows of moving vehicles and planes in flight. It depends on the light – always check reflections if windows are up.

          1. Yes, finding a clean spot on a dirty window is an interesting exercise.

  2. I’m enjoying your daily journeys Derrick, whether in the garden or out in the car. Good to hear the knee is becoming less painful.

  3. Those cygnets! Certainly worth getting into the car to see them. I have never seen swans in central Maine. Sigh.

  4. I am a sure fired fan of cows wandering around like that. There is a calmness to them. And thanks for sending the cygnet ring.

  5. Sounds like you’re making progress! I’m just pleased that you’re getting out and about. Studly could barely leave the house when he had his knees replaced. He was kind of a wimp.

  6. I am pleased you took that beautiful photo of the roses and named the plant as Mum has that one in her garden and I’ve never known what it is called. Love the cygnets and the cattle in the wood.

      1. Thank you so much, Derrick! I will pass the information on to Mum who will be delighted to know the origins of her rose and the story behind the name.
