On another overcast afternoon we meandered in the Modus.
On the Beaulieu Abbey lake teal ( see John Knifton’s comment below) paddled among the reed beds;
black headed gulls quietly reflected;
stately swans sailed sedately, sometimes safely splash landing.
One conversed with a little boy in a buggy.
In a field across the road cock pheasants competed with crows for forage.
Cattle claimed the road at East Boldre.
This evening we dined on our second helpings of Hordle Chinese Take Away’s excellent fare.
That was a particularly pleasing meander, to my eye everything looked peaceful and calm and beautiful – and we all need more of that xoxo
Very many thanks, Pauline XX
Beautiful part of nature are amazing birds and animals. Thanks<3<3<3
Than you very much, Laleh
My pleasure.❤️
Lovely photos. The boy talking to the swan is so sweet. The pheasant reminded me of “your” pheasant. Is he still visiting?
Thanks very much, Merril. He seems to have moved on
Good question – i was wondering, as well.
He has gone
I love the swan photographs, Derrick. They’re really beautiful. Those cows look like they’re on a mission!
Thanks a lot, Jill. That is just what the cows look like
You make your part of the world look so unbelievably beautiful.
Thanks a lot, Dad. It really is
That looks like a delegation of cows. Are you sure they weren’t marching for a 2nd Referendum? 😅 Lovely swan photos. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Maybe they were, Sylvia. They brought along at least one infant. Thanks for this very clever comment
We were always very wary of swans as small children. We were told that a swan could break your leg with its wing.
Most of us were told that, Tootlepedal. Apparently it isn’t quite true. Thanks very much
Great selection of words and photos.
Many thanks, Quercus
Beautiful pheasant!
Thanks a lot, Steve

Derrick, I realise your post is an exquisite poem punctuated by a pristine panorama of pictures:

Marvellously done, Uma. Very many thanks
You are so right. I’ve noticed how melodic Derrick’s tone is as he describes his photos for us!
Nice!
🙂
I agree with your dad. Maybe your part of the world is as beautiful as you make it look. Nevertheless, it takes a good eye to recognize beauty and capture it.
Very many thanks, Nicki
An absolutely awesome amazing astounding alliteration! (of s-words!) 🙂
The birds, and the water look, so peaceful and lovely!
And the cows look to be on a moo-ving mission! HA! 😉 😀
HUGS!!! 🙂
🙂 Very many thanks, Carolyn X
How is your Mum doing in her new place? Continued prayers for her.
Thanks again. Reports are good, but we haven’t visited with our colds
The ducks in the reeds are teal. Part of their wing is a beautiful green colour if you ever catch them in flight.
Thanks very much, John. Will alert readers to this comment.
You contribute information for us wherever you go, John. Thank you.
Agreed
I love where you live – and I have not had chinese food in so long – hmmmm maybe need some takeout this week
We are lucky to have such a good outlet in Mr Chan. Thanks very much, Yvette
😊well over here we have so many “crappy” options – they use bad industrial oils and say they do not use MSG – but it is hard to find a good place that we like – we do have a Mediterranean grill that thankfully rescues us
🙂
Thank you, Derrick for another wonderful tour outside!
Thanks very much, GP
Beautiful captures Derrick.
Thank you very much, Rupali
Great selection of words and photos. Agree with Tootlepedal – we were always told the same thing about swans. Not sure about the leg breaking but I do know that professional turkey catchers wear cricket boxes to protect themselves from the flapping wings. 🙂
Thanks a lot, Quercus. That must be why some Americans play cricket
🙂
Beautiful collection of photos, Derrik.
Thanks very much, Rabirius
Loved the swan alliteration – Nice!
Beautiful photos too. 🙂
I meant to ask before… has your pheasant been pleasant around you lately? Have you seen much more of him?? He was such a handsome bird.
Always love Chinese for dinner – 2nd time around is fine! 🙂 We always get too much for just one meal!
Thanks very much, Bob. We think our pheasant has moved on. We do the same with the Chinese takeaway
So lovely and peaceful.
Many thanks, Becky
I so enjoyed this Derrick, such lovely words and photographs, lovely for Sunday morning!
Very many thanks, Hollie
You are so welcome!
I love the marching cattle and the beautiful reflections in all your watery photos.
Thank you very much, Clare
Love the photos Derrick. You captured some great moments!

Delightful post! Lovely to see the all the animals, humans included.
🙂 Thanks very much, Laurie
Delightful!
Thanks a lot, Roland
The black and white reflection photos are stunning, Derrick.
