Absolutely Fabulous Cricket

The sun was permitted the occasional appearance from behind today’s cloud curtain. At mid morning, thinking she was attending to the Weeping Birch Bed, I ventured out for a stint of clearing up after the Head Gardener’ general maintenance efforts, and received something of a shock. Jackie had been diverted by the Rose Garden, uponContinue reading “Absolutely Fabulous Cricket”

Survivors December 2019

Today was the third bright, sunny, and cold one in a row. Given that overnight temperatures are in the low minuses, I wandered around the garden to photograph some of the albeit somewhat poorly looking surviving flora. Two that seem to bloom continuously are the yellow bidens and the white solanums from last year. AContinue reading “Survivors December 2019”

Meet Muggle

Weather-wise this was a gloomy, but largely dry, day which Jackie began by photographing her now completed work on preparing the New Bed for winter. Can It Be Mid-October?

CLICK ON IMAGES TO ENLARGE. REPEAT IF REQUIRED. The lingering virus from which we have now recovered has really rather reduced gardening for a month. Today, I wandered around on a survey mission, and was pleasantly impressed. The grass could do with cutting, but there is also colour in abundance. Dahlias we would expect; and chrysanthemums; butContinue reading “Can It Be Mid-October?”
